More Glitter

White Glitter, a stellar geranium

White Glitter is usually speckled with random red spots. With the hot weather the flowers now show a wash of pink.

Tricolor Exotic

Tricolor is a fancy-leafed zonal geranium.

"Where is the third color?" you might ask. The lovely brown ring has gone away for the summer. I especially like the way Tricolor lifts up its flowers on extra long stems.

Rose Splash

I'm so proud of my Rose Splash geranium! The semi-double flowers are a rich rose pink with red spots all around the center. The foliage is dark green and forms a perfect little mound.

Seed Report

Pelargonium x fragrans (Nutmeg) with flowers and seedheads
Pelargonium x fragrans (Nutmeg) with flowers and seedheads
As you can see, Nutmeg Geranium is covered with flowers and seed heads. The same goes for P. odoratissimum (Apple). P. grossularioides (Coconut) - always a vigorous seed producer - is just getting started.
There are two small-scale seed producers so far this year: P. 'Strawberry' has three cranesbills forming. Also, P. x fragrans 'Snowy Nutmeg' has produced a few seedheads. Will the seedlings be variegated like the parent?
And then, a zonal geranium called 'Patriot Salmon Chic' has nine seedheads so far, but who knows if they will reproduce true. And besides that, the tag says "Do not propagate".

Is there anything prettier than a white zonal geranium? The little pink spots are the perfect touch - like a baby doll's cheeks.

A Pelargonium Shopping Trip

Zonal geraniums 'Distinction' and 'Alpha'
Zonal geraniums 'Distinction' and 'Alpha'

Yesterday I visited two local nurseries, Plant World and Star Nursery. I wanted to see if they had any scented pelargoniums. No luck. Maybe in a couple weeks. I did find these two interesting Zonal geraniums.

Mystery Geranium Identified

Graffiti Pink Stellar Geranium

While perusing the lovely geranium pictures at Hobbs Farm web site, I discovered the name of the red-leafed geranium I wrote about in an earlier post. It is Graffiti Pink Stellar Geranium. I learned that the stellar geraniums fall within the zonal geranium group and are so named because the flowers are star-shaped.

Beautiful Red Leaves

This is a fancy variety of zonal geranium. It has the striped leaf of a zonal, but they are fan shaped. Exposure to the cold has turned the leaves a lovely reddish tone.

A very fancy zonal
